Who’s the man?

I am of course! Well, would love to write that I’m a bloody sensation, but that would be a big lie. So instead I have to write about the sensation that I feel, now that I got a new lens for my Canon EOS 400 camera.
I purchased a used Canon 28-135mm IS lens as replacement and upgrade to my DSLR camera. So now I have a bit more zoom range and Image Stabilization too. So far it’s a good trade, even though I lost 10mm (18-28mm) for close-ups in the upgrade. Haven’t found it a problem so far though. The old lens (18-55 non-IS) is not worth selling and will act as backup.
Hopefully the new gear will help me on my quest to become a real amateur photographer, and not just a wannabee.
Seems like a good choice and I’m sure it will make you happy. I have a 18-135 mm for my D80 and it’s really a great all-round lens.
So far I’m pretty pleased with the lens. I needed the extra zoom a lot, but have to admit, that it it was possible I would have gone for a 18-200mm instead.
Unfortunately Canon doesn’t make that lens, and even though Sigma or Tamron (can’t remember which) makes one, its is without Image Stabilisation and got bad to mediocre reviews, and thus, I’m not a buyer :-)
So ended up with this, which is a cool lens in it’s own way. A bit of everything, but not quite as all-round as for example Nikor 18-200mm that my buddy has btw. Still I fell pretty happy with my choice.
My Nikkor 18-135 lens don’t have image stabilisation but I couldn’t be more happy. My Nikkor 70-300 do have – but the price considered anything else would be ripoff. It’s a bad thing to be hooked on digital SLR – a bottomless pit :-(
To that…. I have to agree :-)
