A few pictures from our home

Apr 19th, 2007 by Peter

After getting hold on a tripod I finally had the chance to snap some photos of our livingroom in the evening. The daytime is way overexposed with light and can easily look to contrasty.

Nice place! I love your cabinet/shelving unit :) Did C bring much stuff with her when she moved to DK?

Tnx I actually bought it from one of my friends’ girlfriend and I like it a lot too. :-)

No not really. She only brought what fitted into a suitcase and a knapsack. Then she sent 2 or 3 parcels with some clothes and similar, but that’s it. It is ridiculously expensive to bring heavier things this far for us. When we go to China this summer we plan on bringing some more of her clothes with us home, but lets see.

Ah…many a time has been spent in that “slightly worn brownish armchair” by the couch :) It must soon be time for another LOTR day ;)

Nice and clean, Peter….had C. “forced” another all-day cleaning upon you? :)

I’m not saying she did, and I’m not saying she didn’t.

That brownish chair may be replaced with another one soon. If I’m lucky my parents will give me at least one of theirs. At 9.000Dkr a piece, it would be accepted immediately, and fit your Brad Pittsque body just perfectly.

nice decoration.I wonder if the flowers near your sofa r real flowers or just fake?

  6. on 21 Apr 2007 at 5:19 pm6Peter

Its all real. I never had a plastic flower in my house, and C seems to follow that tradition now that I am not allowed near any plants anymore :-)

Haha, real flowers are always 100 times better anyways :)

Are most danish apartments similar to yours?

  8. on 22 Apr 2007 at 9:20 pm8Peter

I think they are comparable, yes. But again, its different how the young and older generation put their stuff. Older people tend to put more real paintings on the wall, and older furniture of course. Also there are plenty of different styles to pick from, and people do that. I always had the: “Whatever- is-better-than-what-I-have-and-free/cheap-style. Since C didn’t have any furniture with her, its my old stuff still doing its thing :-)

You’ve done well with what you have, it looks nice :)

It sparks a bit of jealousy and makes me want a danish apartment though :P The ones here look nothing like that, but in a recent study KY was ranked #46 in economy and employment so I don’t think we are going to have any nice apartments in the coming years. Alot of the ones here are in bad shape and I visited my old best friend once and her apartment had huge holes in the ceiling!

I fit in with the older people, I like putting my paintings on the wall haha

I like how furniture and spaces in scandinavia are so light and “airy”, it looks so peaceful

Thanks Sara. I think the light and airy look, is more random for our part, than it is decided by us. I do like it brighter too though.
