Blocking/blogging woes

Jun 19th, 2007 by Peter

According to China Law Blog, deleting the naughty post may not be enough to unblock me permanently from the Great Firewall, so I followed Kevin’s advice and installed Tor which should enable me to access my blog from China. It will be crusial to my blogging in July, since we go there on vacation this summer.

I tried out Tor a bit and it’s very sluggish, but the alternative is not interesting. If worst comes to worst, I may have to include my buddy Kojak as editor on ‘Bring on the Night’ and let him post for me. Scary thought.

Good news. For the first time in days I’m able to directly access your blog.

And too bad for CLB, because TypePad is now blocked.

Sweet…. For me anyway. I feel with CLB and other typepad’ers.

Hopefully it was just a glitch in the GFW but better keep my “treat-your-animals-right” post sleep for now. Tnx for the check-up Kevin. :-)

No worries. You could probably wake the post in question back up again after it will have scrolled off the front page. Still, better safe than sorry. I’d wait until after you get back from China to do that if I you don’t want to be hassled with possible connection problems while here.

Good idea. I always visioned that the GFW deep searched sites, but now that I think about it, it would need extreme resources to do that. So even though the GFW is a huge project, it is not Google huge :-)

I’ll put it on hold for now.

Nice to have you back. This GFW is really becoming a great annoyance, why do they do it. I’m getting a little tired of them out here i China. I’m happy I blog in danish – I’m almost sure I would hit the GFW if wrote in english.
