Just received the long awaited Children of Hurin by J. R. R. Tolkien.
Can’t wait to read it. 30 years underway from his son’s editing. It looks pretty cool and in “The Hobbit” style writing (not that long) and has great illustrations by Alan Lee.
And – no – there won’t be a review here anytime soon (if ever). I’m the most horrible lazy reader ever, so a review would be outdated before I get down to it. Besides I have enough trouble getting through the other 4 books I have had lined up for months.
I want to red this book too! I love the LOTR stuff so I have high hopes for this one.
I think we’re entitled to have exactly that Sara. It looks promising. I can tell you that (just to rub salt in the wound) :-)
Mine is delayed until tuesday :( But then I could have just ordered that book only, and not the other 3 titles, I couldn’t live without :)
Some of the story has earlier been mentioned in both The Silmarillon and Unfinished Tales…cant wait to read the whole of it :)
Kojak: You’re welcome to borrow my copy, if you are interested. Pop by friday, and I’ll let you have it for a kiss.
Peter: I think you are mistaking me for Gregers….I remember vividly the two of you in Munich…BUT I will pop by friday for dvd’s and perhaps also the book. :)
Haha! I’ll have to see if I can find the book around here over the weekend.
I started reading ‘The Similarion’ right after ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of The Rings’ books. Boy, was that a momentum killer.
I hope this story is more like the first two books. The Similarion is a cure for insomnia.

My own experience exactly Tim! Did the same thing, and never finished Silmarillion. I liked parts of it, but thats all.
Only real freaks like my friend Kojak read stuff so boring to the end.
