So it has come to this….

The last 2 weeks, the amount of spam have risen considerably. The Akismet spam filter stops 99.9% of them as they are held for moderation/deletion. Still I still have to approve and scan them every day. More work that I really don’t want to do.
Today no less than 113 spam comments has been deleted and this is less than normally. Some days I’ve seen as much as almost 300.
So I try something new to stop the extra work and have installed a plugin by the name Gatekeeper. All commenters now have to answer a stupid obvious question before the comments are allowed. Should be straight forward, but seems kinda stupid.
Anyway, I hope this works, since I haven’t found a plugin that generates random bitmap text/numbers to secure that works at this webhost. If this doesn’t work, I will have to search harder and maybe do some nerdish installing. But if not, then all visitors have to register to comment. I keep my fingers crossed.
Update: Worked like a charm, until I updated the plugin…. gaaah. Back to the think-box.
Update II: May be working like a charm again.
[…] Update: enabled Gatekeeper yet AGAIN! Had to disable it since someone (lets call him “Gregers”) couldn’t post a comment. Odds are that it was Gregers and not WordPress who messed up. Others (lets call him “Kojak”) have no troubles at all. […]
