End of the road?

Seems that the Danish Football Association finally had FIFA try to do something to get to the bottom of what happened this summer at the women’s World Cup of Soccer. FIFA now actively tried to find out why two Chinese guys were videotaping the Danish women’s soccer team’s tactics meeting the day before they met the China.
FIFA now states that they can’t get to the bottom of the case, since they have run into some problems with the Chinese authorities. The Chinese police won’t help FIFA with the names of the 2 video happy dudes, and FIFA can’t do anything about it as they have no jurisdictional power in China. Tough luck, or?
Only thing they have been told by the Chinese police is that it is not considered a criminal act, and therefore they “can’t” take the case further. Well, doh?
No one really knows what is up and down in the case the media, but one thing is sure: Some Chinese guys did tape the Danish team and “no one” knows who they were or who they were working for. Strange huh?
I really wish someone responsible for the videotaping would invent a crazy spin on the story instead of just ignoring the incident and hope it goes away. It may start out as a tiny rash today, but this close to the Olympics; it could easily end out as a sore that won’t heal. Please just tell us all that it was eager fans or something. Now the media and all sorts of organisations will be on their toes until and under the big event.
This is getting embarrassing and not really helping the Chinese showing the flag for the coming Olympics in Beijing 2008.
Only light in the horizon is that FIFA claim that they will use this as an example of the security when we get closer to the Olympics in Beijing 2008. Let’s hope someone decides to listen before it’s too late. It could end up a huge scandal for the Chinese and there’s a lost face that will be difficult to save with a hysterical laughter or insane anger.
Well, it isn’t a crime if Party or any of it’s security organs are involved, is it? I mean, if they want to drag you out of your own home at 2:00AM and send you to the Laogai just to make up the numbers, then that isn’t illegal either, so why would a little sports espionage be a problem?
Bastards, I hope they burn in hell.
I look forward to reading more about that story. :-)
